Pally and I worked together and have a game ready to go. It is a Masquerade theme. It was really easy to make with two of us since good and bad ideas would be bounced off eachother, leaving only the good stuff.

We want to go after Shadow's game. Maybe a list is worthwhile.

I don't think we need a list yet, but being prepped might not be a bad idea.
All right. I don't have a problem with this being a general discussion for mafia along with sign-ups/advertisements.

Mm. I'm curious to see this, so I'll gladly let you ahead of me. I'll incorporate a list in the main thread. Even if it's only two games, it shouldn't be too bad.

I've played One Night Ultimate Werewolf which is as quick as implied and could be fun to try out here at some point.

I've seen it too, but I'd need to think about how it's played transitioning into text. Normal games of mafia work extraordinarily well on forums due to the lack of personal tells.

I think a big thing is preserving the energy of the game. Doing it in a skype call is an easy solution, but on a forum I think you'd have to set up a time in advance, so everybody knows they need to be online to play for an hour at 6 EST on Thursday or whatever.

Yeah, Honestly though, if we were to do that, I'd rather just have a game of "Town of Salem" going. It's mafia online and it's pretty fun.

I was thinking about running a 1984 themed Mafia. I have never run one before so it should be fun (hopefully). I think the list is a good idea, I recall us having one on the Urealms forum and it was good to have one game going at a time and knowing what would be next. Kept people involved and excited. I do love the mafia on these forums, it's one of our best features.

Aaaaand, that's why I suck at forum mafia.
Well, in a way, Forum Mafia is more analytical than mafia in real life. That's the best part. People can peek in mafia, they can hear their neighbor move. It becomes a game of social pressure and it's not as analytical.

With Forum mafia, there are strategies and tactics that you use. Patterns that you recognize. I've gained far more enjoyment from forum mafia than a normal game of mafia.

Though, The Resistance is a much better done mafia game, but it would take far too long on a forum.

One reason why I don't play mafia games in person is because I get too focused on giving fake tells and tricking people with them.

IRL mafia basically has me calling somebody out almost completely randomly on the first day with bullshit reasoning and hammering away at them. It has an idiotically high success rate.

My only experience with IRL mafia sounds a lot like Stealthy's. First game I played I ended up completely randomly accusing the person directly next to me and they turned out to be mafia after we proceeded to lynch them in the next five minutes. Their scum buddy then had me lynched the next day by convincing everyone I must have been the scum buddy throwing them under the bus.

Fucking plebs.
