You called it, but for the wrong reasons. Like I said, the "hammer" statement of mine was entirely innocent and most likely something I would have said if I were Town as well. I completely forgot about the chaos part of the game and said hammer because I've been saying hammer in situations like those for years now.

This is exactly what happened.
On two day phases, the town had a total lynch power of 2 votes. RNGesus favored the mafia this game.
Also I am the dumb.
I...I tried to balance the game by using GM powers under the guise of role shenanigans to preemptively roleblock the mafia's kill that one night, but in the end it didn't help any...
I'm so sorry guys. If I do another game I'll pay way more attention to it, and not let the game rely on a potentially dickish RNG.
I woulda just mathed it out so that the town would always have an even number of votes. If you added it all up, the number of votes the town would have would be equal to the number they would have if it wasn't a Chaos Lynch game. Each member of the mafia would have one vote.

Though, it's cool. I usually make one critical error in GMing games with complex mechanics. Though its usually because something happens where I have to pass judgment on some crazy turn of events that I hadn't foreseen.

Like, I fully admit that I've built in a small bit of GM fiat here and there into DBZA mafia because of the highly experimental mechanic, but this type of interference is way to fucking much.
