[Audio] Req has to do a Podcast to Graduate!

So it's pretty much exactly what the title says. I have to do a podcast for my one class I absolutely need to pass to graduate and we've done exactly what this assignment is asking for and more in the past. I'm basically looking for volunteers/people to talk with me while we record ourselves doing the podcast.

Here's the assignment description:

Minimum 20 minutes (pffft) and maximum of 30 minutes (easily done). The podcast can be about anything. I have ideas of what I want the topic to be, but I wanted to brainstorm with you guys first before I gave my idea.

I want it to be related to the forum and what we do, but nothing is off the table right now. We can literally make this podcast about anything. It also needs a name. "The Forum Community Podcast" is kinda vanilla, but it also works with what I wanna do, but feel free to suggest names too!

I'll talk wit'cha if you need people, man. (And if I'm not at work, or playing vidya games.)

(Probably I can even skip the vidya games.)

Oh shit, I'd love to do a podcast with you or other people; it's been fun in the past and I think that it'd be fun now. No idea what to give it for a name, but if I were to suggest anything it'd be some kind of reasonably clever pun.

I would love to hear a forum podcast, and perhaps be involved.

My name suggestion is REQuired Content

Or just anything with Req in it.

...what kind of easy-ass assignment is this?

You go to a liberal arts school or something?

Also I'm down, duh. But I think it would be neat if we saw more of Not-TC in our forum media, so I'll just be backup.

No, shut up, I loved working with you and especially want your voice on this thing.

Unless there's other stuff going on. In that case, I can respect that.

Earliest I might be open would be late Monday evening. If that don't work out, it'd be the following weekend. If you need a decent turnaround you should probably count me out. I appreciate the gesture though.

This is my final assignment for the class, it's not due until finals, far as I know. We could make it work.

Tentative scheduling: monday night?

So here's a name I thought was interesting

The Requisition

It's got the pun angle you guys suggested and I dunno, it sounds pretty okay, rolls off the tongue, even.

So here's my idea of what I wanted to do. The podcast has to be about something.

1. The first thing that came to me is about who we are online versus who we are offline. How different are those two people? Why are they different? Are they different at all? Nowadays people are more and more comfortable with just sharing their names, but ten years ago, everyone had a pseudonym. What is that like for us as individuals?

2. That said, we can do anything. I wouldn't mind talking about the things we do as a community, why that's important or interesting, as well as what has kept us here for 10 years. Why do we keep coming back? How are we different or changed from having been part of a community like this for so long?

3. Though really we could also talk about pop culture, maybe even just recent movies, etc. We could discuss RPing, tabletop, gaming in general.

Overall though I want the themes to be exploring this community and why we do what we do with it.

Thoughts? The overall idea is that this is gonna be a conversation. We're just gonna be chatting, you don't have to prepare beforehand. That said, I'm gonna have questions ahead of time that I'll send you so you can read up and collect your thoughts.

I think this is a really cool idea actually. I'm flattered you want to have a college course focused on the community.

I think the first two would be rather interesting paired together, but just keep in mind the amount of time. I would actually consider trying to have a time limit for each conversation piece, if not per person.

Luckily we don't have to follow the time limit. My professor gave us time limits and stuff, but she also said it could 3 days long for all she cares.

But yeah, length isn't much of an issue, we'll hit it and more as things progress. As for structure, I'll have to have that planned out soon anyways as part of the work. Also, I need to do a "sound draft" for Monday, so if anyone is available for recording this weekend, I'd love to have you on. It won't be long, ten minutes max and we'll only talk about one segment of the podcast. Consider it a dry run of things, as well as sound testing.

@Rondait, I'd love to get with you this weekend and see if we can't work on an intro for this thing. I had ideas I can run by you. They should be fairly simple, but yeah, let me know when you're free.

I do work until 10 tonight however, so that means no DnM (not that anyone was planning on us doing that), but yeah, I should be available to do some light recording tonight as well as throughout the weekend, earlier in the day.
