My only issue would be TC running it.

I remember that nightkilling me early on became so routine that somebody once tried to do it in a game I wasn't even in.
I remember the first game I was in, you claimed to have killed Walrus. I nearly tried to nightkill you in retaliation, since *I* had killed Walrus. Then I realized you weren't playing. And my role was you. So, you know, in a way you ACTUALLY HAD nightkilled Walrus.
Hey, I know.

How about a Serial Killer mafia, where everybody is a Serial Killer?
Sooo, last killer standing wins? Vote for a lynch during the day, bullets fly like a Matrix remake in the night? Expect a draw. Unless you did something like make the nightkills proc on a first come, first served basis or something.
Don't worry, we still need to play Ro's Masquerade theme, my game, Easy's One Punch Man game.

I'm bouncing between a dynamic Undertale game or a RWBY themed game.
I'd play the hell out of a RWBY mafia.

RWBY sounds fine.

Also, I had an idea for some variants. An SK mafia would be cool. It's not like everyone will literally target everyone else, so whoever is left standing wins. If it comes to two people left, have the GM make them do something to prove their worth in some sort of contest, I don't know. Someone record it if it's a game of 1v1 of something.

Other variants: no-lynch mafia. You try your hardest to actually prevent lynches and the mafia is limited to only so many kills, but they have to kill specific roles or perform specific actions. The mafia can't win by lynching someone and Town roles can discover the mafia/the mafia win conditions and that's what they play against. Instead of lynching, you're basically fighting against people's win conditions. Haven't actually done anything with this idea though.

One Kill Mafia: There's one "mafia" member/Serial Killer. Maybe a cop, maybe not. Thia variant is heavily discussion based, maybe has an "evidence" system that replaces night/role abilities. The Town has to find evidence pointing to who the killer is and successfully detain him (or lynch him). If they lynch anyone else besides the killer, it's heavy penalties. The people who vote for the lynch/detainment/arrest get thrown into jail themselves for targeting the wrong guy. It's supposed to make you value your vote ability more.

Basically, I want us to try idea that don't involve lots of role shenanigannery. Role Madness isn't bad at all, but there's certainly mafia variants we can explore and create.

All right. More than likely, I'll do that. Also, since @Colonel Thunder is still playing Undertale and I don't want to spoil it.

That sounds like it could be pretty neat.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to make sure people saw this. The One Kill Mafia is called that because only a single kill occurs. I'm toying with the idea of instead of having a nameless person die, just some NPC, we have one of the players of the Killer's choice die, flavored by the evidence that the Town could collect. The murdered player would have abilities of their own to use in the night, attempting to help solve their own murder.

So it's basically Clue?

That's also what I was thinking. At the rate they're going, one session per week, TC won't beat it until like a month or two from now, probably slightly less.

I think so, it would be fun.

Also fairly simple. I would just have to set on a theme, come up with evidence for each player, randomize the Killer, perhaps randomize the Victim, then see what happens.

Essentially.

Also... I just realized that I successfully figured out how to finally do Clue in mafia. Remember how I was trying to make that shit make sense in my head? It seems simple now.

I was thinking about a game that's more like a 'Courtroom' where we know who the main scum are, but the vanilla townies(jury) have to agree what each of their roles are in the same phase, with the town power roles being able to stop or slow the scum before they "pay off" Jury.

This will take a while to balance out, and I'll probably give up half way through.

I've been mulling over my Batman Mafia idea. I'd probably have a mana-like mechanic of Money and/or Manpower, but you start with a finite amount and it doesn't regenerate. But you can fight for leftovers from deceased players, and there'd probably be a mechanic where you can steal from other players. I've also been thinking about wrapping in a territory system as well. It was at about this point I realized that I stopped making a mafia game and instead was making a turn-based strategy game where you can get lynched. And also had Batman.

So I'm gonna try and think of something less complicated and go for that.

Mm. What I'm thinking of doing is just having a vanilla game of mafia using the classic build from Town of Salem.

Just so we don't overdose on thematic/role madness games. I think this would also scratch the itch of everyone that wants a balanced game.

Sheriff
Doctor
Investigator
Jailor
Medium
Godfather
Framer
Executioner
Escort
Mafioso
Lookout
Serial Killer
Town Killing
Jester
Random Town

Would be the roles: Here's a link to what the style would be. I think it'd be interesting since players would have to act smart since they know 13 out of the 15 roles and what they do. People can identify and assume roles. On top of that, I make take their death/kill note. Whenever you die in the game, you can leave behind a message that everyone can read. It makes it useful for that if the cop ends up dying, he has a note of the people that he investigated.

Also, just to shout out:

Town of Salem is a free mafia game that you can play online. The games typically last about 10-15 minutes and it's one of the most balanced games that I've played.

I love the jailor role. I used it in my mafia game a while back. Unfortunately it kind of drags out the night as the gm must be an in between so the jailer is anonymous. Character or post limits help with that role

Hm. Fair enough. I'll try to balance a RWBY set-up. I think I may make each faction have goals similar to Easy's OotS mafia.
Sounds like fun. I've never gotten to play in one you ran, since you more or less quit mafia shortly after I joined and the wait list to run a game was miles long back then, iirc.

Really? Damn. You really haven't. I just checked the TTGL mafia post and I could have sworn you were in that game from how you mentioned I got you into mafia and TTGL.

Either way, it's a shame that we don't have the huge community that we did on URealms. Either way, I'll work something out that's balanced, fun and thematic.
