[Art] Swords

I feel like this fits into the community creations because I make these.

So as I mentioned already I make swords for a living. I guess that makes me a professional sword smith.

So most of what we make is intended for competition sword fighting for groups like the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). Unlike ren- fairs where everything is staged hes people put on armor and go at it to win. the swords do have to have blunted edges and they have to flex a certain amount for thrusting. We do occasionally get a request for sharp swords and, we'll do those too.

We are one of the only places that will do fully custom swords and I am the one that draws up the parts using a drafting program called Solidworks. When I'm not doing that I usually have a grinder and am making all the parts look pretty and ready to get put together.

Most of what we make is rapiers, but we also do longswords, sabers, daggers, katanas, and hand and a half swords. We will also do any other type of sword if you have the money to order it. We currently have a Khopesh in the works and we did twin Yatagans I'll post sometime.

I'll get around to posting more, but in the meantime feel free to ask questions or comment or whatever.

Depends on what you want done, most customs people just get a custom guard with a standard blade, handle, and pommel. Those run about $500. Any of the parts and all of the parts can be custom so the price goes up from there.

Seems like a really interesting job Null. I know a lot of people who would be pretty satisfied with a job like that.

Pros:
It's fun
It's a good conversation starter
It's usually interesting
I don't have to ask for vacation days to go to events to sword fight because chances are all my coworkers are going too and the shop is closed

Cons:
It's a lot of hard work and I don't really have energy to do much after my shift, this is also why I've put my web comic on hold.

I like swords a lot. Frilzer made some for me a while back. Very cool stuff.

Nice custom swords, man. I especially like the look of the whole "tons of holes to get enemy swords stuck in" design. Sword #3 is my favorite of those 3.

Somewhat relevant thing: I'm very big into making creative stuff, and right now my favorite part of this forum is getting to look at all the cool stuff people are doing. You making swords. Artist making web comics. TC designing games a while back. All the forum lore stories that were made a while back. It's the best.

I haven't posted here in a while so here are some more swords.
11536116_935132963196906_2327746727324300189_n.jpg Twin Yatagans, Turkish backwards saber things. I'm not really a fan of short blades normally, but these are fun.
