I’ve edited my original post in this thread so the character sheets can be consolidated on one page. Still a work in progress. I’m trying to think of a way to better fit him in the “modern fantasy” setting. I’m thinking he’ll end up coming from a poor nation like Romania or something, the kind of place that is a little modernized, but still kinda primitive. That way, a religious military is more believable.

I think that what you're looking for is Alexander, a name which is clearly miles - no, lightyears - more respectable and associated with power, and fitting of a man who wears multiple leather jackets.
That's the nicest thing you've ever unintentionally said about me, Tirin.

Does Req even know what you're referencing? I don't remember if he was there or not.
... are you talking about Mutants and Masterminds? The tabletop game we played where I was the only other GM besides Kratour?

What?

Thought some of you might want to see this. It's a rough map of the world. You're not going to see many other countries, just the important ones. If you want to create anything lore wise or take a chunk of land and develop it for fun, let me know and we can make that happen. I have a general idea of what everything is and does, but it never hurts to have more hands working on something to make it more fleshed out and interesting, should we want to.

So, what I did put on there is the four major cities/countries we'll need to know about or remember for the game. No, the cities aren't necessarily to scale, but the ones that do look massive are meant to be so.

P = Poria
MR = Mistlord Republic, referred to as such because it only just got annexed
C = Clord, city and country
Z = Zekeshaven

Poria is the seat of all power in the Riordan Empire and is pretty much as big as it looks on that map. The orange continent is connected to the red one containing Poria. They're one land mass, broken up the same way North America and Russia are on a map, just more directly connected. You can consider them to be two separate halves of one continent, but with a massive ocean between them and one massive land bridge to the north keeping them connected.

Zekeshaven is a city of power and wealth, pretty much the home of anyone and everyone with money or influence.

Clord is the force behind the Riordan Empire's economy, maintaining it and controlling it. Most of the goods it exported before being taken over were sold at the highest of prices. After being taken over, Clord kept some measure of autonomy, but it also became one of the main providers of weapons and equipment for the empire with factories cropping up across the country over the course of weeks.

The Mistlord Republic is in a unique position of having some ability to stand up to the Riordan Empire. The country has a higher concentration of powerfully gifted magic users, far beyond the capabilities of any other country. Only through the sheer force of all other nations combined were the Mistlord leaders brought to heel and even then, only through trickery and deceit as needed to end the bloodshed. Though the country held out for decades, many Mistlord citizens are glad to see the war finally end.

I also made a 3D globe of the map. It wasn't hard, but I don't know how to put it in a post as there's no like... share... thing. I have a code for it though. I might ask @RECONmaster for some help with it in the future once we've fleshed the map out more.

EDIT: Oh and the little light brown lines are defunct land bridges that went under water thousands of years ago.
For everyone who needs it, this is the world post I made in the old thread. I'll be transferring over and editing a little bit of this post so that you guys have all the correct information. Reminder, this is happening in its own world, it's just on the same tech level as us in our modern world.

I've read your sheet Dunsparce and while I like the character a lot, he doesn't really fit the tone of the game or the setting. Undead wouldn't last long in this world, nor would they remain hidden as he's needed to be.

You're mostly looking to make normal people who live in our every day world, within the scope of fantasy races, magic, things like that.

So the fundamental idea is completely untenable, and the fact that he comes from a third/second world country doesn’t change that? I’m just supposed to make my character a regular dude who happens to be a fantasy creature? Alright I guess, it’s your RP. I’ll try to think of something else. It’ll take me a while to write a new character sheet, and I don’t really have any inspiration right now. Maybe I’ll decide to opt out of this if I can’t think of anything.

You could try to workshop it, but as the character is now, he'd fit more into a traditional fantasy setting instead of a modern fantasy setting.

God damn Tirin, after all this time you're still just as delightfully haughty as ever. Only now you punctuate things with smilies.

My fuckin' boy, you bring a tear to my eye; I missed you so much bby.

- Oh also I'm gonna go ahead and start idly working on my character. I think I'm gonna go with number two, Req.

Are you calling it number two 'cause your character's gonna be total shit?

That is all.

(Sorry.)

He can be human, any basic sort of race, even out there races (goblins are allowed, for example). The main reason why I don't wanna accept that character the way he's currently written is that, in this day and age, any undead would be treated like how we'd treat zombies in the real world (if they existed). The CDC literally has zombie plans in place if any sort of zombie attack were to happen. With magic being another layer of that, most authorities would be on any undead rapidly, disposing of the corpse as soon as possible, whether it was animated or not.

That said, I do need to clear things up. While there are parts of the world that definitely could count as "2nd or 3rd world countries," the entire world as of the first post in the game will be united under a single, global empire. Some places retain their identities, but for the most part, the world is incredibly and utterly under competent rule in a way no one expected after centuries of armed magical conflict. Because of this, things like Undead hordes or just Undead in general wouldn't last long as they'd be destroyed rather quickly.

Whether the state of the world remains like that for the course of the game is something we'll see eventually, but as of right now, undead really aren't something I'm willing to allow. I'm treating all of the "monster" races as they are treated in modern times. Vampires are evil, bloodsucking assholes, all of them. Werewolves will and must turn every full moon. Zombies are definitely bringers of disease and can kill on a massive scale if left alone, so any sort of horde would be major news, meaning it would shift the tone of the game and the kind of game I want this to be.

Undead in this game is less like a Warcraft race and more like a status effect. People can be brought back to life or reanimated, sure, but playing an undead isn't something that really fits the game setting at this time. However, a well-written character sheet can always change my mind if you put the right spin on it and give good explanations for things.

Name: Eystin L. Eckart
Age:
Appears to be in his mid/late twenties, but he’s certainly much, much older by now.
Race: Cambion

Appearance: https://img00.deviantart.net/37c3/i/2018/097/1/a/oc__eystin_l__eckart_by_hannah_vanbrunt-dc882i8.png

Personality:
He comes across as charismatic and easygoing. He’s pleasant to be around but it’s hard not to assume he’s playing you for a fool or thinking about how to win over your business – and he probably is. But maybe not. He’s always looking out for number one, but when number one is safe, he can be amicable to others and support their needs. So it’s a tossup as to whether he’s full of shit or being genuine.

He’s fancy and he likes it that way.

He avoids combat and will choke the diplomacy route until bodily harm is impending.

His fatal flaw is selfishness. Despite his good treatment of his workers, he’s looking out for number one at the end of every encounter. If the going gets tough and he can’t see a worthy reward, he’ll dip.

[Personality to be expanded via RP. This is what I have right now.]

History: His succubus mother left his human father shortly after procuring what she wanted in the form of a pregnancy. She selected him for his quality as a specimen with no interest in a relationship. She owned a couple of brothels in Zekeshaven and ran them well. She and her contracted were able to live comfortably. As Eystin grew he became familiar with the workings of the brothels, contracting, freelancing and recruiting. By offering better working rights and more freedom to his escorts, he was able to steal the competition from virtually every nearby brothel. He expanded his mother’s business by leaps and bounds. She retired with a chunk of the wealth and left things to her boy.

Eystin now oversees a monopolized network of every brothel in Zekeshaven. Each has a trusted advisor at the helm, but he personally visits and reviews each one regularly. Each house has a monthly meeting he attends to ensure needs are met. He is fair to his workers but takes a large chunk of profit for himself. His financial power has made him a huge player in Zekeshaven’s political scene. He holds no office, but he attends hearings, galas and other important meetings. His sheer wealth makes him a trusted and relevant figure.

Magic: Illusionist

Within a 20-foot radius centered on himself, Eystin can “blink,” or teleport a short distance at will. His appearance in the desired spot is instantaneous. He can avoid impact, surprise people or gain the upper hand in positioning himself in a room.

Eystin can change his gender presentation to feminine at will, enhancing his facial structure, torso appearance, overall figure shape and delicacy. He can also change the appearance of his clothing.

Racial Featues: Pointy teeth, horns, skin off color. Unlike succubus mother, he requires no sex but more than likely gets enhanced physical scores when he has it. He’s private about such matters. At least, when it comes to himself.

There. I updated my first post with a completely new character that fits into the “modern fantasy” world. If you reject my character this time, I give up.

Denied. I do legitimately want you to play, Dunsparce, so I don't know why you're doing whatever it is you're doing. Should you decide to make a proper character, I'd be happy to read through it and let you know my take on it.

I'd also to refer you back to one of my posts earlier where I said this:
However, a well-written character sheet can always change my mind if you put the right spin on it and give good explanations for things.
That was in reference to your undead paladin. He was never flatly denied, I simply said that as he was written currently, he didn't fit the setting.

You are welcome to edit that character some more and try with him again. You're also definitely more than welcome to message me here or on Discord and I'll work with you to make the character you wanna make that fits to this setting. You can ask almost everybody here and they'll tell you I love workshopping characters and working with you guys.

I don't know if you're genuinely interested in playing still, but if you are, we could make it work, you just gotta work with me, man.

I don't understand what your problem with my character is, and it's pretty damn infuriating that you just deny my character without even saying why. He's a low effort joke character, sure, but so is Easy's and you didn't deny him. I'm a complete novice when it comes to forum RP, so maybe you assume that I understand something about this that I just don't. You mentioned that you want us to be creative with our characters, and you lamented how restrictive you were with the previous iteration of this game, but all that's starting to sound kinda insincere.

I'm not gonna put forth the effort to write up another character that you're just gonna reject. Count me out of this.

Er... if Easy plays, I'm pretty damn confident that that's not going to be his character, and I seriously doubt that Req would actually let him do so.

Oh yeah, that's not Easy's character at all, that's a joke character he made two years ago in response to a joke character I made. His actual character is a goblin gangster and we've been workshopping it on Discord. (I also responded to him directly after he posted that joke character with the words, "I hate everything you choose to be, Easy" so, yeah.)

You also wrote this second character as "the villain of the story" and wanted to ruin things, or at least that's what I got from what you wrote. If you're out then you're welcome to make that decision, but hopefully you aren't choosing that based on that misunderstanding.

As for your original character, as I mentioned a few times, he was never denied, I just said I wouldn't be accepting him as he was currently written and then told you to message me here or on Discord to workshop him. You don't have to have a character sheet the length of Tirin's or Jeroth's or anywhere near the detail they put into it, especially since you're a newer RPer. Again, we can workshop your original character, he's not anywhere close to being full on denied. I just need you to work with me.
