Okay turns out scumhunting is hard.

With TC and Tag crossed off, we still have 10 people to pick from. I did a quick scan through the day so far and here are my broad impressions on gut feelings. Far as I can tell, nobody's voiced suspicion of Easy, Riyant, and myself. That leaves Tolvan, Firedemon, Ro, Pally, Tim, Req, and Shizno. We really have nothing strong on any of them.

Instead, I'm going to assume Stealthy is right about all of this. The way I'll be "scumhunking" for the rest of this day is attempting to whittle down the aforementioned candidates until there's hopefully just one or two standout candidates.

The following case will not proceed with any judgment that could be described as sound. It will be a mixture of gut feelings, old quotes, misinterpreted facts, half-assed research, a time crunch, and a couple of beers that I forgot to carbonate when I bottled them so they're flat and sad.

All this will combine into a single fuzzy logic cocktail bomb that's so inane it just...might...work.

We'll start with Tolvan!

I'm not a fan of lynching typically quiet people for being quiet unless we have something else to back it up, and that goes for both Shizno and Tolvan.

I guess Req, Tolvan, and Shizno are kind of being lurky, but you could almost say the same of me thanks to my work.

Feelings on Tolvan have mostly been leftover baggage from the idiotic fight at the beginning of Day 1 than actual suspicion. Plus "poke the inactives".

[REGARDING TOLVAN]I think the initial feelings are left over baggage, but he's still lurking.

So far a lot of the people we seems to all be trusting a lot seem to think that Tolvan is just being inactive and maybe with some Day 1 baggage.

I think I can prove this theory.

The following are (I think) all of Tolvan's posts today.

Time to say what I can, then. Keep in mind that I'm not the best at mafia.

Alright. I think Tag is town, honestly. I'm honestly not sure on a lot of people, but I'm somewhat suspicious of TC and FD right now. Again, I don't really have the experience a lot of you have - I don't know how you play, and can't make decisions based on that. With my suspicions, at least, I'm mostly going off of a gut feeling, as that's my best option with the information I have,

I keep forgetting that half the people are playing... Oh well. Anyway, if I'm being lurky... My CS class is being a bitch right now. I'll try to post when I can.

I just want Easy and Tirin to continue this quarrel; we can finish this mafia game later.

Um, this is a FD quote, but it might be worth mentioning that Tolvan "liked" this post. Why? Because it was a funny comment? Or does he genuinely agree? Was the Tirin-Easy showdown the most engaging part of the thread for him? I'm betting so.

Here Tolvan says "On it" in regard to a message that reads "the only winning move is not to play" or something like that. This seems to confirm his kinda half-assed/over-his-head/new-to-mafia persona. In the end, I find him not that fishy and I am reminded of this quote from Jeroth.

It seems that a lot of us are pretty busy and I can't spite people for it. The only issue with people being busy is that it makes it difficult to differentiate from people that are lurking/being suspicious and people that are just busy.

I don't know that Tolvan is being busy so much as he is being disinterested in the game/not having thoughts he feels worth sharing. Probably because he doesn't have many thoughts worth sharing, but let's hope he proves us wrong.

I eliminate Tolvan from my pool of scumhumping candidates.

Let me explain.

No, let me sum up.

A lot of people have made posts indicating their mild suspicion of Firedemon. And that's pretty much the best case for making him a lynch today. For various reasons, people are kinda suspicious about him.

The whole day he's made like two constructive posts, and like five joke posts. He hasn't really committed to anything on either side and he also, stated he's been busy.

I don't think FD is scummy, I think he's a kinda bored kinda busy town

He's has his vote taken away from him today, and with Day 2 being such a clusterfun, why put in all the time to make sense of it all when you have no vote, no leads, and you're not a significant point of discussion (up until now). If you were mafia, ALWAYS reason to stay involved even without a vote. If you're town...eh...not really a big deal, there's tons of town to pick up slack.

If Tolvan is the Newb Town Lurker then FD is the Lazy Town Lurker.

I think FD is more suspicious than Tolvan, but not by a ton.

I eliminate FD from my pool of scumlumping candidates.

Next, Ro!

Nevermind that's hard, him last.

Okay so just speedreeding through Pally's posts this day phase makes me see him as hella town. Seriously, do it and see if you see the same.

Maybe he's bewitching me with his DANK MEMES, but so far Pally has made a ton of jokes, half of which contain both scathing and insightful commentary. He's been accused of being a Jester, but I think Shadow said once that he didn't like that role or maybe that was someone else, I don't know. Either way he's a great town asset even if he were a jester, and I like having him around.

I also don't think I've ever played mafia with him before, so maybe I'm falling for his Pally traps. But thus far I really like his contributions. I feel like if he were mafia he wouldn't be making as many insightful comments.

Pally is Pally Town, which is maybe my favorite kind of town.

Wow I really shouldn't have wasted all my time researching Tolvan. Now we're getting to everyone else and I care like half as much.

Okay so Req's pretty easy thankfully.

Req's said like nothing all day except for he's busy and sick and hasn't had a great couple of days.

(Also sorry for my mean comment earlier. Wasn't a great time. Sorry dude.)

Anyways, I was first really suspicious of Req last day phase. Usually when Req is posting anything playing Mafia, he makes posts so large that you'd think there's a word count requirement as part of his win condition.

But that wasn't the case, and it made me think him fishy.

But then he posted how he's busy and sick and not having a great time.

I doubt he'd use that as scum cover, because as I've said before Req is such a lover of the game and this community he wouldn't use real life stuff to a gross advantage like that. Especially since Req is brave enough to talk about his IRL troubles with us pretty often, and wouldn't twist our arm like that over something he knows we're going to sympathize with him for.

Then Pally pointed out a good point about how Req's post was a crappy defense.

Then Req TOTALLY overreacted, which further proved his innocence in my eyes, because there was most certainly absolutely no way he would go to that extent to use real life troubles as scum cover.

Then Req mentioned how he got a boring role where he can't really do much. Which makes sense!

Req's had a bad couple days, got a not-very-fun role and game has no strong leads. But he's cool to make a couple jokes and his recent pictures are on point.

Req isn't scum.

Req is Backseat Town

The circumstances aren't great for him right now, so he's not going to lead the Town charge like he normally does, if he doesn't have to. Kinda like Firedemon right now, except Req has a way better excuse IMO.

He's actually been making a surprising amount of sense so far, so yes, I fully expect that's where it all comes crashing down.

Alright so Shizno's only really posted whenever someone's mentioned even mild suspicion of him, and it's been rubbing me wrong so far. He's also claimed that he's much more active as scum, and claiming what your own scum behavior is seems real scummy to me. It rustles my jimmies.

That and this happens.

But I'm always lurky though. At least during the start. It's weird, but I guess it's just been a while that people forget that I pretty much stay back and let things unfold for a bit before becoming gradually more and more active as time goes on. It's not inactivity, just being rather quiet. Is it that helpful? Eh, not really, but I probably wouldn't be that helpful anyways, so I dislike cluttering things with pointless posts that say little more than that I'm around and paying attention.

As for Pally, no I don't really think that joking around really at all indicates that he's a Jester. Or anything that he's done for that matter.

On a different topic, I'll go ahead and Lynch Colonel Thunder for the time being. Mostly because if anyone has to die, I figured that if he did it'd answer the most questions at the moment.

...just out of curiosity here, what questions? I'm assuming you have something beside "whether he's town or not".

Maybe I'm biased here but I think it's odd that he never said anything past that. And considering the number of free passes I/we are handing out to borderline inactives this game, I feel like he should be posting more, at the bare minimum following up on his previous post.

Orrrrr...what if this is part of the plan? Shizno said that he's more active when he's scum! Maybe he's purposefully being inactive to try and prove that statement, to appear as though he's town!

It's the most brilliant, most lazy possible mafia strategy!
