I'm trying to remember how many Texas people we have here still, is anyone here actually in the shit with this hurricane? I'm far enough away from the coast, and I'm pretty sure @Requiem is too.

Actually, there's a big band that seems to have kind of broken off and headed that way. You good, Req?

I'm alright more or less, but we're in clear lake. Nothing too bad right now, luckily the storm is moving away from us. Lots of my friends are out towards San Antonio though, so it's bittersweet

And yeah, I'm good. Dealing with water trouble, but only in one room at the moment. Mine is untouched.

And San Antonio seems fine. The storm turned around and came straight back at me instead. It's gonna be heading through Louisiana now it seems like.

Almost everyone I know back there has some degree of flooding now, so I might be heading back there right after the roads clear to help anyone I can. Seriously, if you want some help with that room or whatever more happens after, hit me up on the Facebooks and I'll see if I can stop by.

I told my co-worker in the lab that she was getting inappropriately excited over something that was traditionally seen as a bad omen around most of the world, but she didn't wanna hear it. Eclipse was not quite total in our location, but pretty close to it. I must admit that I found the sunlight dimmer-setting effect rather pleasant.

Later that day, she spilled glue she was working with all over equipment including her calculator and our analytical balance, putting the latter two out of commission. She also came down with flu, while I snagged myself a case of pinkeye. The building's internet went down in the meantime, as some nearby construction work ended up severing a cable - going on hard copies for everything was a major hassle for the next few hours, before service was restored. It wasn't all bad, though, because I got to be super cool and aloof about it in the process of reminding people that I totally called that shit.

After getting jacked up against some rocks while following our hostess's advice in trying to surf on this very rocky beach, I decided that was enough swimming for the day; my siblings and I did photo ops, instead. Due to my superior sense of timing and aesthetic, they had some much cooler ones in this location - but it'd be kind of inappropriate for me to throw those around. (Bummer.)

On our last day, we hiked on a volcano. Most of the trails were closed due to prior rainstorm, but I figure we weren't missing much because volcano sightseeing kinda sucks for the most part anyway.
